Chowan University offers a unique opportunity to complete the required education hours for North Carolina certification in alcohol/drug counseling. The Alcohol/Drug Studies track is similar to the concentration in counseling with additional courses in alcohol/drug studies. Upon graduation you will be qualified to sit for the state exam to become a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC). A faculty member who is a NC Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS) will provide the state required supervision hours for your practicum.
Alcohol/drug counselors are in demand in the fields of mental health, substance abuse treatment, criminal justice, schools, and human resources, just to name a few.
