Who We Are.
The purpose of the Chowan Christian Service Association (CCSA) is
to provide scholarship assistance to students preparing for full-time Christian vocational ministry. The CCSA was begun in December 2004 when Dr. Chris White, President of Chowan and friends felt the need to help provide financial assistance for ministerial students regardless of their call to ministry. Out of their dream, vision, and commitment has become an organization of individuals and churches who have a passion for sharing in the education and the preparation of future ministers.
Who We Assist.
Scholarship assistance is
provided for students who are enrolled full-time. Recipients must be students preparing for full-time ministry and who are exhibiting unquestionable moral character. Student prospects are interviewed by the CCSA Board of Directors to determine their eligibility for receiving scholarship aid.
How It Works.
All contributions are
placed in the CCSA Endowment. Only the interest income from this endowment fund is used in providing scholarship assistance to help students cover their educational expenses. Gifts to the CCSA consist of cash, stock, real estate, or other appreciated assets. Estate gifts and/or gifts of trusts provide opportunities for CCSA members to be stewards of their resources beyond their lifetime for the training of future ministers.
Three dinner meetings are
held each year for the purpose of business and fellowship with fellow members and scholarship recipients. Both students, faculty, and CCSA members participate in the evening's program. These are special times of forming new relationships and inviting others to become a part of the CCSA family.
Membership in the CCSA is
open to dedicated Christians who are interested in and committed to helping students fulfill their call to ministry. Individuals expressing their commitment to the education and preparation of future ministers through an annual gift of $100 or more are welcomed into the membership family of the CCSA. Churches are also welcomed at the $250 level or more to become an annual member.
