Eleven Students Bring Home Six Awards

The Printing Industry of the Carolinas (PICA) has announced the winners in the 2015 PICA Awards Competition. It is one of the largest printing contest in the nation. On January 16, a panel of judges with extensive experience in printing and print production was brought in to examine the work of six postsecondary schools in the Carolinas. Students entered work in one of twenty-five categories. Each entry was judged on its own merit in a category with similar printed pieces. Eleven Chowan University Communication Arts students won six awards in the 50th Anniversary of the awards. They are:
- Best of Category: Rebecca Noll, Miscellaneous, Specialty or Novelty, Self Released CD Mix Case
- Special Judges Award: Dyamond Barnes, Andrew Starks, Jaleel Price, Digital Printing: Ink Jet Rigid, Pasta-tas
- Special Judges Award: Bethany Tinto, Elisha Blowe, Henry Griffin, Digital Printing: Ink Jet Rigid, Cookie Jar
- Special Judges Award: Joseph Hoggard, Rebecca Noll, Digital Printing: Ink Jet Rigid, Bonaventos Pasta
- Special Judges Award: Jamie Stefanski, Sidney Nickens, Candra Williams, Digital Printing, Ink Jet Rigid, Maccheroni
- Special Judges Award: Sarah Davis, Lee Duncan, Digital Printing:; Toner, Muller’s Angle Box
The students will be honored guests at the 2015 PICA Awards Banquet on Saturday, April 16 in Concord, North Carolina.
