Bembry Named As Preseason NFL Defensive Hopeful
MURFREESBORO, N.C. – With the 2018 Football season in the coming days, for one of Chowan's football players, this season needs to be the best one of his career.
Tyler Bembry, senior defensive lineman from Disputanta, Va., was named to the 2018 NFL Regional Combine Preseason Defensive NFL Hopefuls Watch list. Bembry is one of 14 defensive linemen to be named to the watch list for the 2018 season. In 2017, Bembry finished with 56 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, and 2.5 sacks. Over the past three seasons with the Hawks, Bembry has increased his production and been a force in the middle of the line. Bembry currently sits with 94 total tackles, 19.0 tackles for loss, and five sacks.
Last season, 90 players from the Division II level made a splash in the NFL, and with unknown gems scattered across the country, that number will rise. Bembry and others like him will be looking to make a splash in their final seasons.
Bembry is one of four players from the CIAA to make the list. Ray Lewis III (VUU), JeJuan McCalston (JCSU), and Jalen Cousar (FSU) also made the list. The full list can be found here from the Locker Report.
