Admissions Counselor

Position Information

Chowan University, a church-related, Baptist institution invites applications for the position of Admissions Counselor. The University seeks an innovative thinker with a demonstrated commitment to the values of a liberal arts education. Serving as an Admissions Counselor, the successful candidate is responsible for administering all aspects of the University search and admissions process with prospective students; recruits prospective students to Chowan University; initiates contact with students, parents, counselors, teachers and communicates specifics about the academic programs offered by the University; encourages prospective students to apply and attend; explains the admissions and financial aid process to prospective students.

A valid driver’s license is required to operate a university vehicle since extensive travel will be required. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in scheduled “college fairs” at high schools, community colleges, or churches as directed. Candidates are required to work alternative schedules during recruitment periods.

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of University life in a residential setting and an ability to communicate that knowledge. Strong interpersonal skills, both written and oral, are a necessity.
