Chowan University Presents Awards at Annual Rouson Lecture

Dr. Warren Milteer, Assistant Professor of history at the University of South Carolina, headlined the Reverend George T. and Luvenia B. Rouson Memorial Lecture with a presentation about free people of color in Hertford County, and received the Rouson Memorial Lecture Award. Katie Vaughan Parker received the Minnie Wood Perkins Award. She is a tireless community servant who continues to donate her time and money to community projects. John A. Hinton received the Futrell/Ruffin Community Service Award during the Annual Reverend George T. and Luvenia B. Rouson Memorial Lecture for his faithful service to the Murfreesboro community through Chamber of Commerce and as Mayor of Murfreesboro from 2010 to 2017.

On February 3, 2018, Dr. Cicely J. Cottrell, Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice at Chowan University, gave the keynote address at the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Diversity Breakfast for the Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College in Benham, KY.
