Chowan WBB Rolls To Fourth Straight Win
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Chowan Women's Basketball team improved to 4-0 on the season with a 97-41 victory over Columbia International in the final contest of the Courtyard Classic in Spartanburg, S.C. on Saturday afternoon.

Dhyamond Crenshaw produced a season-high 26 points missing her career-best outing by one point. Crenshaw once again tied the school record with 11 made baskets shooting 61.1% from the floor.
Chantel Roberts, Mariah Coker, and Danielle Weldon posted double-figures in the win. Roberts led the trio with 18 points, while Coker notched 17 and Weldon tallied 16. Weldon notched her first double-double of the season with 13 boards.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter:
The Hawks started off slow posting four points in the first two minutes of the contest forcing a timeout to rally the team. Chantel Roberts ended the early rally knocking down a three to put the Hawks up 7-2.
Chantel Roberts added two more triples followed by a Danielle Weldon layup put the Hawks up by double-figures.
Dhaymond Crenshaw ended the quarter with six points to give Chowan a 24-11 advantage after 10 minutes of action.
Second Quarter:
Dhyamond Crenshaw would take over the contest scoring 16 points in the quarter as the Hawks went on a 16-2 run. Chowan held the Rams to 1-9 shooting and caused five turnovers. Crenshaw started the quarter with a 6-0 run by herself. Joanne Williams and Chantel Roberts added to the scoring in the quarter.
CIU notched their first points of the quarter at the 3:35 mark ending the run.
Chowan received six more points by Crenshaw as the defense ramped up causing turnovers on three straight possessions.
The Hawks would lead 50-21 at the half.
Third Quarter:
Chowan came out of the locker room with momentum going on a 15-0 run to extend the margin to 44, 65-21. Mariah Coker knocked down back-to-back threes followed by Chantel Roberts connecting from behind the arc to complete the run.
CIU trimmed the deficit a bit before Danielle Weldon finished off a three-point play and another layup to finish the quarter leading 77-32.
Fourth Quarter:
Chowan continued to push ahead as Danielle Weldon pushed the advantage to 50+ points going on a 7-0 run alone.
The Hawks would slow the pace finishing the remainder of the quarter with six points.
