Gates Notches Second CIAA Rookie Honor

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced on Wednesday CIAA Volleyball Players and Coach of the Week for Week Six of the 2017 season.

Rookie, Kayla Gates, earned her second straight CIAA Rookie of the Week honor.  The Chesapake, Va. native just missed her second double-double of her career with nine kills and a career-high 14 digs to help the Hawks defeat Virginia State in a battle of the CIAA Northern Division.  Gates is fourth on the team in kills.

Chowan returns to the court on Thursday in a CIAA Northern Division clash against Elizabeth City State at home.
