Request Media Coverage

Do you have an event, program, or big announcement coming up that might merit media coverage? The University Relations team works with colleagues across campus to assess their communication needs and then determine how best to meet them. The collaborative aspect of our work is critical to its success. We help tell the Chowan story through various media such as news articles, social media posts, photo ops, radio spots, video, and feature stories. University Relations can provide support in the following areas:

  • Press Releases
  • Photography
  • Social Media
  • Video

Does it meet any of the following criteria?

  • Showcase students?
  • Appeal to donors?
  • Alumni?
  • Portray the University in a positive light?
  • Is this a reoccurring event?
  • Is it the first of its kind?
  • Does the event invite participation?
  • Does it involve the Chowan or greater local community?
  • Is it unique to Chowan?
  • Does it highlight accomplishments?
  • Does it connect to any newsworthy issues?
  • Does it meet other valuable criteria?

If you answered yes to any of the above, then you should Request Media Coverage using the form below. We’ll use the information you provide to determine if your item is eligible for coverage by University Relations. The more questions you answered yes to above, the more likely we’ll be able to help share your story.

Timing is very important. In order to provide quality work, we must have adequate notice ahead of time. The best rule of thumb is to request coverage as soon as possible and let us work out a timeline with you. At a minimum, we require at least two weeks’ notice on news articles (to meet press deadlines) and at least three days for all other requests.

University Relations makes the best effort to provide coverage for the entire University in a fair and consistent manner. Due to a high volume of needs and requests, we are not always able to cover every story that comes our way. That does not mean you should not submit a request! If you have an idea, no matter how small, please do let us hear about it. If our department can provide promotion or coverage, we will. If not, other appropriate avenues may be suggested.
